Frequently asked questions
A: At Thimble and Hearth, we are committed to offering high-quality, locally-made products that align with our ethos of promoting local artistry and wellness. Our selection of fragrances includes two categories: Clean Scents and Clean Scents+.
Clean Scents+ fragrances are crafted to the highest standards of safety and purity. They are manufactured without the use of organ toxins, acute toxins, CMRs (Carcinogens, Mutagens, or Reproductive toxins), phthalates, and ingredients listed on the California Proposition 65 list. This means they are free from any ingredients known to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.
On the other hand, our Clean Scents fragrances adhere to many of the same strict standards but may contain one or more ingredients that are suspected, but not yet confirmed, to contain CMRs. While still focused on safety and quality, Clean Scents provide a broader range of fragrance options while maintaining a commitment to minimizing potential toxic exposures.
By offering both Clean Scents and Clean Scents+, Thimble and Hearth ensures that you have access to a diverse collection of high-quality, thoughtfully curated fragrances. This enables you to choose the best option for your personal preferences and needs, all while supporting local artisans and small businesses.
A: At Thimble and Hearth, we prioritize creating environmentally friendly and high-quality products for our customers. That's why we choose soy wax for our candles. Soy wax is a natural, plant-based wax made from soybean oil. It’s eco-friendly, renewable, and sustainable, and it is also carbon neutral. The soybeans used for our wax are grown in the United States, primarily in Illinois, Iowa, and Indiana, supporting American agriculture.
In contrast, paraffin wax, the most commonly used wax for candles, is a byproduct of refining crude oil, making it less environmentally friendly.
Additionally, soy candles burn cleanly and slowly, providing a longer-lasting and healthier option for your home. By choosing soy wax, we align with our ethos of illuminating your moments with local artistry and sustainability.
